Hi my name is Dallas, Lone Star (or whatever my new owners decide)....I'm an adorable, brindle 9 week old Pit probably Lab mix puppy, with a perfect outline of TEXAS on my chest. I was abandoned in the middle of a busy road, before I was even weaned. Lucky could be my name as well, or Jacky as I hit the jackpot (wow the possibility of names is endless) and I have grown up (well growing up is all of three weeks now) with a large family of dogs and humans. I'm told I'm very smart, I've learned to come in and out of dog doors, I'm even leash trained and am working on stay and sit. Housebreaking, nope that's still in the works. My veterinarian says she thinks I'll be about 65 lbs. or so, no smaller anyway I hear. I'm on heartworm prevention whatever that is; I've been wormed, had my first two sets of puppy shots and am healthy and happy. I would love a home with children or active adults. I do fine with the family kitty, though my running around is a bit much for him but mostly I love love love other dogs. Oh yeah, and did I mention I'M SMART, VERY SMART...I like to emphasize that point as I'll be a whiz with obedience training or if someone is into agility, I'll be the star (Lone Star, even).
note: In addition to Dallas' adoption fee, there is a $50 refundable spay deposit required.

Please note: if you are looking for a particular breed of dog, please be aware that most of our adoptable pets come to us as STRAYS, so we have no way of guaranteeing what breeds they are. When we state a particular breed or combination of breeds for an available dog, we are simply making our best educated guess based on the appearance of the animal and input from our veterinarians. If you must verify breed makeup, we will cooperate with you to do genetic testing at YOUR expense before you commit to an adoption.
SNIPPP prefers to have adoptive homes within the northern California counties of SHASTA, LASSEN, MODOC, SISKIYOU, TRINITY, TEHAMA, and HUMBOLDT to make it easier to do home checks and transport adopted animals to their new homes. Although we are willing to make exceptions, especially in cases of animals with special placement needs, the costs and arrangements for additional transportation outside this area may need to be handled by the adopting individual or family.
SNIPPP requires an adoption contract, a home check, veterinary references, and an adoption fee. All SNIPPP animals are spayed or neutered (unless they are not yet old enough, in which case adopters will be required to provide proof of spay/neuter at the appropriate time and will be entitled to a $75 refund of a deposit paid at the time of adoption). They are all up-to-date on vaccinations, have received appropriate veterinary care, and are micro-chipped. If they are dogs at least 6 months old, they have been tested for heartworm and are on preventative.
Some of the animals on our website are COURTESY LISTINGS. Different adoption requirements may apply for these animals, and they may not have received the same level of veterinary care; please ASK the person offering the animal for adoption any questions you have regarding vaccinations or health status. SNIPPP makes no warranties as to the validity of statements made regarding the personal characteristics of animals listed on a courtesy basis. Adopters are advised to consult with a veterinarian or animal behavior professional to confirm health or temperament characteristics of any animal considered for adoption.
Completing an Adoption Application does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt from SNIPPP; our primary concern is with finding the most appropriate homes for the animals in our care. Many of them have gone through rough times, and need an especially understanding person to help them realize their full potential. To complete an application, you will need to register on our website.
If you have applied and are approved as an adopter, we can arrange for you to meet individual pets you may be interested in at other times, too. SNIPPP PO Box 223 MCARTHUR, CA 96056
