SNIPPP needs FOSTER HOMES in Northeastern California's Modoc, Lassen, and Shasta counties! Our ability to rescue companion animals like the one you're viewing right now depends on us having safe, loving foster homes for them to go to. Can you give an animal in need a second chance by opening your heart and home? -----------------------------------------------------

Hi, I'm Red, a nice young Border Collie who is friendly and good with other dogs.  I know how to behave on a leash.  I'm not very interested in tennis balls, but I'd still do best in an active home.  If you've ever heard people say about Border Collies "those dogs need a job", that's kind of how I am--I like to keep busy.  If you're the active, outdoorsy type, I could be the guy for you!
I am very good friends with Sophie, a female Border collie mix who is also listed on SNIPPP's available pets; we'd love to be adopted together if you're looking for a pair of canine friends.
We're both very good about sticking around our home territory, even wothout being confined.
Note: I haven't spent any time around little kids, and being a herding dog, I might be inclined to think the little critters needed to be "rounded up"--so it is not known whether I would be good with small children.

SNIPPP prefers to have adoptive homes within the northern California counties of SHASTA, LASSEN, MODOC, SISKIYOU, TRINITY, TEHAMA, and HUMBOLDT to make it easier to do home checks and transport adopted animals to their new homes.  Although we are willing to make exceptions, especially in cases of animals with special placement needs, the costs and arrangements for additional transportation outside this area may need to be handled by the adopting individual or family.

SNIPPP requires an adoption contract, a home check, veterinary references, and a $100 adoption fee. All SNIPPP animals are spayed or neutered (unless they are not yet old enough, in which case adopters will be required to provide proof of spay/neuter at the appropriate time and will be entitled to a $50 refund). They are all up-to-date on vaccinations, have received appropriate veterinary care, and are micro-chipped. If they are dogs at least 6 months old, they have been tested for heartworm and are on preventative.

Some of the animals on our website are COURTESY  LISTINGS. Different adoption requirements may apply for these animals, and they may not have received the same level of veterinary care; please ASK the person offering the animal for adoption any questions you have regarding vaccinations or health status.  SNIPPP makes no warranties as to the validity of statements made regarding the personal charateristics of animals listed on a courtesy basis.  Adopters are advised to consult with a veterinarian or animal behavior professional to confirm health or temperament characteristics of any animal considered for adoption.

Completing an Adoption Application does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt from SNIPPP; our primary concern is with finding the most appropriate homes for the animals in our care. Many of them have gone through rough times, and need an especially understanding person to help them realize their full potential. To complete an application, you will need to register on our website.

Many of our adoptable pets are at Redding Petco, 1603 Hilltop Drive, from noon to 4 the fourth Saturday of the month. We look forward to seeing you there! If you have applied and are approved as an adopter, we can arrange for you to meet individual pets you may be interested in at other times, too. SNIPPP PO Box 223 MCARTHUR, CA 96056
